The display of the planks makes for a stunning, classic look. The popularity of oak is seen here by the warm honey tones, it’ll enhance any room in your house.

This flooring has a lot going on due to its dark knots which contrast to the rest of the floor, as well as the diagonal arrangement. This means you get the advantage of its natural attractiveness while giving your room the wow factor. Although a rug would suit this floor well, the pattern is very prominent and shows it’s self-off well alone. The bevelled edges also add to this feel, as well as giving a texture.

Herringbone is a very on trend this year, so you’ll be right up to date if you purchase this product. Many homeowners go for herringbone to impress, that's why it's perfect in the hallway to make a grand entrace. However wooden flooring never goes out of fashion due to it timeless appeal, so it will amaze for years to come.

The wear layer of 4mm means it can be sanded down up to three times if damage does occur. This does not normally need to be done for 15-20 years, so you can imagine the many years you’ll get out of this floor looking gorgeous! Plus, we offer a 25-year guarantee to keep your mind at rest.

The durability and practicality of engineered flooring is excellent, with them lasting years and coping with rooms with the highest foot traffic. The oiled finish protects your flooring from most damage while keeping its original wooden look. Although engineered flooring is mostly stain and water proof, we would recommend mopping up any spillages as quickly as possible. Once more, the brushed finish can help camouflage any scratches caused, making this flooring perfect if you have pets with sharp claws.

Underfloor heating is also possible with this flooring, being capable of withstanding heat that real wooden flooring isn’t able to. Therefore, there are no limits to where you can place this flooring- beautiful practical, we would always recommend an engineered floor to any new buyers.

Installation

If you’re looking to install solid or engineered wood flooring by hand, here are a few things to bear in mind:

Tongue and Groove vs Click

Before you purchase your solid wood flooring, check which installation system it uses. There are two main types: ‘Tongue and Groove’ and ‘Click’.

• Tongue and Groove is more traditional, ensuring dimensional stability and strength. Along one edge, a ‘tongue’ protrudes from the centre of the board, whilst on the other, an indented groove is cut into the wood. This allows each board to fit together securely.

• Click installation is quick and hassle free. Like tongue and groove, click boards fit together, however, the click method allows the boards to lock into place, snapping together with a single movement.

Floating

Many fitters prefer floating their boards due to quick and easy installation. Floating does not require you to fix your flooring to a subfloor, however, only click planks can be fitted this way.

Adhesive is applied to the groove for added stability, and underlay is fitted underneath the board. This cuts down on labour, whilst ensuring that your boards are comfortable and strong underfoot.

Fixing

Fixing your flooring to the subfloor will encourage a long lifespan and minimal movement. Both Tongue and Groove and Click boards can be fitted this way, however, it is more popular with the former.

Depending on the material of your subfloor, boards can be fixed in a variety of ways. For solid surfaces such as concrete, adhesive is applied directly under the board. For wooden subfloors, the boards can be ‘secret nailed’ along the tongue. Both methods are equally beneficial, giving you outstanding results.
