Sure to bring style to any space, Luxury Flooring proudly presents our stunning 122mm Solid Walnut Lacquered Acacia Wood Flooring, 18mm Thick. One of only two solid walnut lacquered acacia products available here at luxuryflooring.co.uk, this particular product has proven extremely popular.
We also stock an engineered version of this product - 122mm Walnut Acacia Lacquered Engineered Wood Flooring, 18/3mm Thick – product code, EA2000; perfect for those who are installing over under floor heating systems (UFH) and/or upstairs. Please note, all our engineered products are compatible with both electrical and water based UFH systems. Our 122mm Solid Walnut Lacquered Acacia Wood Flooring, 18mm Thick has been elegantly pre finished with approximately 7 coats of lacquer; giving it ultimate protection and making it extremely easy to clean/maintain.
With a plank width of 122mm (12.2cm), this lacquered acacia product is considered fairly narrow as it falls under our 120-130mm width category. A plank width of 122mm would suit the vast majority of areas/rooms within your home; both narrow, small bedrooms to larger, more spacious areas.
SA1059 has a total thickness of 18mm (1.8cm). Given the fact that lacquered walnut acacia is already considered an exceptionally durable species, this thickness would be more than suitable for most commercial and residential properties. Should you ever feel the need to sand down and refinish this product, with a thickness of 18mm, you would be able repeat this process up to eight times. Please note; we don’t believe this will be necessary for the first 10-15 years but it is the end user’s preference.
This product comes in random lengths (RL) between 300-1200mm, with an average plank length of 600mm (60cm) allowing whoever is fitting the floor to lay individual planks in a staggered, natural flowing formation. In addition to this, each board has a 4v groove, micro bevelled edge detail that gives each plank even more natural definition and individuality.
If you’re looking to install solid or engineered wood flooring by hand, here are a few things to bear in mind:Tongue and Groove vs Click
Before you purchase your solid wood flooring, check which installation system it uses. There are two main types: ‘Tongue and Groove’ and ‘Click’.
• Tongue and Groove is more traditional, ensuring dimensional stability and strength. Along one edge, a ‘tongue’ protrudes from the centre of the board, whilst on the other, an indented groove is cut into the wood. This allows each board to fit together securely.
• Click installation is quick and hassle free. Like tongue and groove, click boards fit together, however, the click method allows the boards to lock into place, snapping together with a single movement.Floating
Many fitters prefer floating their boards due to quick and easy installation. Floating does not require you to fix your flooring to a subfloor, however, only click planks can be fitted this way.
Adhesive is applied to the groove for added stability, and underlay is fitted underneath the board. This cuts down on labour, whilst ensuring that your boards are comfortable and strong underfoot.Fixing
Fixing your flooring to the subfloor will encourage a long lifespan and minimal movement. Both Tongue and Groove and Click boards can be fitted this way, however, it is more popular with the former.
Depending on the material of your subfloor, boards can be fixed in a variety of ways. For solid surfaces such as concrete, adhesive is applied directly under the board. For wooden subfloors, the boards can be ‘secret nailed’ along the tongue. Both methods are equally beneficial, giving you outstanding results.
