125mm Brushed and Oiled Click Engineered European Oak Wood Flooring – product code EC2066 - has a total thickness of 14mm with a 3mm solid hardtop wear layer. This product comes in random lengths between 300-1200mm. This product is lightly brushed and finished with a UV oil which gives the plank more texture and character and look especially beautiful on the oak. Each plank has a 4V Groove, bevelled edge giving each individual plank a further sense of definition.

This floor can be sanded down up to 5 times however it shouldn't be necessary to do so for the first 15-20 years and with our 25 year guarantee you can trust that your floor will retain its stunning look for years to come. The grade of this product is rustic meaning the planks have more knots and imperfections giving the product much more character and warmth. The rustic grade is the most popular grade in the wood flooring industry.

The EC2066 is installed using a click system. Similar to a jigsaw, click system floors work by fitting the planks together so that they 'click' in to place. The click system makes it easy for any DIY project and makes for a quick process. This system is quick and easy and means that any avid DIY fan will be able to install the flooring.

Engineered wood can be installed in room where solid wood can not thanks to its ability to withstand fluctuations in temperatures, so wouldn't perish in a conservatory for example. This ability also means that it can be installed on top of underfloor heating which is something consider as underfloor heating is becoming more and more prevalent in modern homes.

Installation

If you’re looking to install solid or engineered wood flooring by hand, here are a few things to bear in mind:

Tongue and Groove vs Click

Before you purchase your solid wood flooring, check which installation system it uses. There are two main types: ‘Tongue and Groove’ and ‘Click’.

• Tongue and Groove is more traditional, ensuring dimensional stability and strength. Along one edge, a ‘tongue’ protrudes from the centre of the board, whilst on the other, an indented groove is cut into the wood. This allows each board to fit together securely.

• Click installation is quick and hassle free. Like tongue and groove, click boards fit together, however, the click method allows the boards to lock into place, snapping together with a single movement.

Floating

Many fitters prefer floating their boards due to quick and easy installation. Floating does not require you to fix your flooring to a subfloor, however, only click planks can be fitted this way.

Adhesive is applied to the groove for added stability, and underlay is fitted underneath the board. This cuts down on labour, whilst ensuring that your boards are comfortable and strong underfoot.

Fixing

Fixing your flooring to the subfloor will encourage a long lifespan and minimal movement. Both Tongue and Groove and Click boards can be fitted this way, however, it is more popular with the former.

Depending on the material of your subfloor, boards can be fixed in a variety of ways. For solid surfaces such as concrete, adhesive is applied directly under the board. For wooden subfloors, the boards can be ‘secret nailed’ along the tongue. Both methods are equally beneficial, giving you outstanding results.
