A stunning classic medium oak solid wood flooring product which has been elegantly finished with multiple layers of UV pearl satin lacquer protecting the natural oak surface from any day to day usage. A lacquered surface works particularly well if any liquids are spilled as this finish holds the liquid on top of the surface not allowing any water to seep into the grain leaving any marks, however as this is a natural product we would always advise you to mop up any spillages or splashes as quickly as possible. This natural product will showcase some knots and imperfections as the grading of this product is ABC often know as rustic. The rustic grade is by far the most popular wood flooring grade simply because knots are one of the main attractions when purchasing solid wood. All our solid oak timber is sourced from local European countries as this allows us to offer consistency and continuity on all our products, so if you require more material later on down the line, you can rest assured the same quality will be provided. As we source the highest quality timber this allows us to offer a 25 year manufacturers guarantee on all our solid and engineered flooring products. The plank width of this lacquered flooring product is 125mm (12.5cm) wide which is deemed as a standard width in solid wood flooring, making it ideal for both large and small rooms. The total plank thickness is 18mm (18cm) making it possible for you to sand and refinish the product approximately seven times. Once you have sanded down the top layer you would then need to apply a few more coats of pearl satin lacquer to achieve the previous finish. The joining system on this lacquered oak flooring is tongue and groove giving you a few different installation options such as; a floating floor where you simply glue the tongue and groove and then allow the floor to float, secret nail, where you nail through the tongue into a wooden sub floor or fully stick the flooring to the sub floor using an adhesive. Which ever option you decide to proceed with we would always recommend you make sure the sub floor is level prior to installation.
Luxury Flooring is also your one stop shop for all the matching accessories such as beading, door profiles, underlays, adhesives, maintenance products and many more enabling to complete your dream flooring with us.
If you’re looking to install solid or engineered wood flooring by hand, here are a few things to bear in mind:Tongue and Groove vs Click
Before you purchase your solid wood flooring, check which installation system it uses. There are two main types: ‘Tongue and Groove’ and ‘Click’.
• Tongue and Groove is more traditional, ensuring dimensional stability and strength. Along one edge, a ‘tongue’ protrudes from the centre of the board, whilst on the other, an indented groove is cut into the wood. This allows each board to fit together securely.
• Click installation is quick and hassle free. Like tongue and groove, click boards fit together, however, the click method allows the boards to lock into place, snapping together with a single movement.Floating
Many fitters prefer floating their boards due to quick and easy installation. Floating does not require you to fix your flooring to a subfloor, however, only click planks can be fitted this way.
Adhesive is applied to the groove for added stability, and underlay is fitted underneath the board. This cuts down on labour, whilst ensuring that your boards are comfortable and strong underfoot.Fixing
Fixing your flooring to the subfloor will encourage a long lifespan and minimal movement. Both Tongue and Groove and Click boards can be fitted this way, however, it is more popular with the former.
Depending on the material of your subfloor, boards can be fixed in a variety of ways. For solid surfaces such as concrete, adhesive is applied directly under the board. For wooden subfloors, the boards can be ‘secret nailed’ along the tongue. Both methods are equally beneficial, giving you outstanding results.
