A glowing solid oak flooring product which comes with a natural golden hand scraped (carved) finish designed to give the flooring a more worn characteristic look. The hand scraped finish gives each plank more texture than most other flooring finishes as you can see and feel the veins on the surface. To offer further protection to the flooring we then applied seven coats of UV pearl satin lacquer which sits on top of the surface protecting the oak from any stains, however as this is a natural product we would always advise you to mop up any spillages or splashes as quickly as possible. The overall board thickness is 18mm (1.8cm) giving you the option to sand and refinish the flooring around seven times, this process is usually carried out once every 15 years, this is why solid wood flooring is often seen as a great investment. The width of this golden oak is 150mm (15cm) wide and length of planks are random between 300mm-1800mm (30-180cm) making the flooring look more authentic in a natural staggered pattern. All our solid hand scraped flooring products come with a micro beveled edge detail, which showcases each planks natural beauty individually, instead of all the planks blending together to make one big piece. When it comes to installing solid oak wood flooring there are three methods to consider, a floating floor where you glue the joints, secret nail the flooring to the sub floor or use an adhesive and fully stick the flooring down. The grading of this hand scraped product is rustic which is often know as ABC, with a rustic grade you will often find knots and imperfections designed to add warmth and character to the product. The rustic grade is the most popular wood floor grading. This product comes with a 25 year manufacturers guarantee so you can rest assured if any problems occur this will be resolved.
We don’t just provide the flooring, we offer all the matching thresholds, beading and nosing’s to match the colour of the flooring amongst a whole range of fitting and maintenance products.
If you’re looking to install solid or engineered wood flooring by hand, here are a few things to bear in mind:Tongue and Groove vs Click
Before you purchase your solid wood flooring, check which installation system it uses. There are two main types: ‘Tongue and Groove’ and ‘Click’.
• Tongue and Groove is more traditional, ensuring dimensional stability and strength. Along one edge, a ‘tongue’ protrudes from the centre of the board, whilst on the other, an indented groove is cut into the wood. This allows each board to fit together securely.
• Click installation is quick and hassle free. Like tongue and groove, click boards fit together, however, the click method allows the boards to lock into place, snapping together with a single movement.Floating
Many fitters prefer floating their boards due to quick and easy installation. Floating does not require you to fix your flooring to a subfloor, however, only click planks can be fitted this way.
Adhesive is applied to the groove for added stability, and underlay is fitted underneath the board. This cuts down on labour, whilst ensuring that your boards are comfortable and strong underfoot.Fixing
Fixing your flooring to the subfloor will encourage a long lifespan and minimal movement. Both Tongue and Groove and Click boards can be fitted this way, however, it is more popular with the former.
Depending on the material of your subfloor, boards can be fixed in a variety of ways. For solid surfaces such as concrete, adhesive is applied directly under the board. For wooden subfloors, the boards can be ‘secret nailed’ along the tongue. Both methods are equally beneficial, giving you outstanding results.
