Our White Brushed and Oiled Engineered European Oak Wood Flooring (product code EO4038) has a visually stunning surface wear layer of solid European oak. Oak has been a popular choice amongst homeowners for generations, due to its distinctive grains and practicality. Each species we use has been expertly curated with unique character in mind. We have chosen oak with an ABC grade, taking advantage of some of the naturalistic properties of real wood. This product has been given a brushed and oiled finished, and bathed in a gorgeous white stain for improved lightness. The brushed effect delivers physical depth, creating a rustic aesthetic. Alongside this, the application of oil strengthens the wood whilst preserving its classic look.

Each board has a total thickness of 18mm. The engineered base has been constructed from multiple layers of highly compressed plywood, measuring at 14.5mm. With the multi-ply composition, your engineered flooring will prove unsusceptible to warping and shrinkages in areas of high humidity and moisture. As a result, this product can be installed in kitchens, basements, and over underfloor heating. On top of the multi-ply base, the solid European oak surface is fitted, making each board identical to traditional hardwood flooring in appearance. As this surface is 3.5mm thick, your flooring can be sanded up to 4 times!

This type of engineered flooring comes in single planks with a fixed length of 1900mm. This allows for a staggered effect, delivering the prototypical appearance of classic wood flooring. With a plank width of 150mm, this product is perfectly suited to any room, bringing proportion to both small and large spaces. Finally, the surface of each board has been manufactured with a micro bevelled edge, creating a small ‘V’ between the joins of the planks. As a result, your flooring will provide an additional layer of depth and texture to the aesthetic of your home.

EO4038 is incredibly versatile when it comes to installation. Designed with an integrated ‘tongue and groove’ installation system, each board fits securely into one another. Whilst this flooring can be fitted using traditional methods, the addition of ‘tongue and groove’ allows your flooring to be floated, removing the need for additional nails and adhesives.

With our 25 year guarantee, you can rest assured that our flooring is built to last.

If you’re looking to install solid or engineered wood flooring by hand, here are a few things to bear in mind:

Tongue and Groove vs Click

Before you purchase your solid wood flooring, check which installation system it uses. There are two main types: ‘Tongue and Groove’ and ‘Click’.

• Tongue and Groove is more traditional, ensuring dimensional stability and strength. Along one edge, a ‘tongue’ protrudes from the centre of the board, whilst on the other, an indented groove is cut into the wood. This allows each board to fit together securely.

• Click installation is quick and hassle free. Like tongue and groove, click boards fit together, however, the click method allows the boards to lock into place, snapping together with a single movement.

Many fitters prefer floating their boards due to quick and easy installation. Floating does not require you to fix your flooring to a subfloor, however, only click planks can be fitted this way.

Adhesive is applied to the groove for added stability, and underlay is fitted underneath the board. This cuts down on labour, whilst ensuring that your boards are comfortable and strong underfoot.

Fixing your flooring to the subfloor will encourage a long lifespan and minimal movement. Both Tongue and Groove and Click boards can be fitted this way, however, it is more popular with the former.

Depending on the material of your subfloor, boards can be fixed in a variety of ways. For solid surfaces such as concrete, adhesive is applied directly under the board. For wooden subfloors, the boards can be ‘secret nailed’ along the tongue. Both methods are equally beneficial, giving you outstanding results.
