Our stunning American Black Engineered Walnut Wood Flooring is 15mm thick with a 4mm solid hardtop wear layer and comes in fixed lengths of 1860mm with a 155mm width.

Not only is walnut wood flooring one of the most luxurious products on the market, but once laid the true beauty and quality is evidential in how it completely transforms a room or living space, it adds a wonderful depth of character and injects an air of tradition and warmth.

This floor can actually be sanded down up to 5 times, however we do not see this being necessary within the first 15-20 years as the floor is so durable itself. This walnut product is elegantly pre finished with 7 coats of pearl satin UV lacquer giving it ultimate protection and the reassurance that it will remain easy to maintain and clean.

This product can be fitted using one of three available methods of installation; floating, nailed or glued down. It is completely up to you which one, although we would recommend the floating method as it has a 'tongue & groove' joining method. If you're unsure about any of these methods take a look at our handy installation guide!

Each plank has a 4v Groove, bevelled edge giving each plank more natural definition individually which contribute to the product being described as 'rustic'. In short, this means the planks have more knots and imperfections in them which give the floor a more natural appearance and have seen the style become increasingly popular due to it's ability to add a certain depth and character to a living space.

If you’re looking to install solid or engineered wood flooring by hand, here are a few things to bear in mind:

Tongue and Groove vs Click

Before you purchase your solid wood flooring, check which installation system it uses. There are two main types: ‘Tongue and Groove’ and ‘Click’.

• Tongue and Groove is more traditional, ensuring dimensional stability and strength. Along one edge, a ‘tongue’ protrudes from the centre of the board, whilst on the other, an indented groove is cut into the wood. This allows each board to fit together securely.

• Click installation is quick and hassle free. Like tongue and groove, click boards fit together, however, the click method allows the boards to lock into place, snapping together with a single movement.

Many fitters prefer floating their boards due to quick and easy installation. Floating does not require you to fix your flooring to a subfloor, however, only click planks can be fitted this way.

Adhesive is applied to the groove for added stability, and underlay is fitted underneath the board. This cuts down on labour, whilst ensuring that your boards are comfortable and strong underfoot.

Fixing your flooring to the subfloor will encourage a long lifespan and minimal movement. Both Tongue and Groove and Click boards can be fitted this way, however, it is more popular with the former.

Depending on the material of your subfloor, boards can be fixed in a variety of ways. For solid surfaces such as concrete, adhesive is applied directly under the board. For wooden subfloors, the boards can be ‘secret nailed’ along the tongue. Both methods are equally beneficial, giving you outstanding results.
