180mm Golden Hand Scraped Engineered European Oak Wood Flooring – product code EO2101 - has a total thickness of 14mm with a 3mm wear layer. This product comes in random lengths between 300-1800mm. This product is hand scraped which is one of the most popular flooring finishes on the market offering each plank an antique and distressed aesthetic. This golden hand scraped product is elegantly pre finished with seven coats of golden coloured oil, giving it ultimate durability, protection and ease of maintenance.
Each plank has a V Groove, bevelled edge giving each plank more natural definition. This floor can be sanded down up to 4 times however it shouldn't be necessary to do so for the first 15-20 years. The grade of this product is rustic meaning the planks have more knots and imperfections giving the floor much more natural character. The rustic grade is the most popular grade in the wood flooring industry.
Engineered wood flooring is made in such a way that it is suitable to be used alongside underfloor heating. Made up of layers of plywood stuck together and finished with a lamella layer, engineered wood flooring, unlike solid wood flooring, is able to withstand fluctuations in temperatures, meaning it can also be used in rooms such as conservatories and basements. The hand scraped finish, makes the surface layer resistant to water splashes or spillages, so if you do happen to have an accident this will simply just mop up without seeping into the surface. However as this is a natural product we would always advise you to mop up any spillages or splashes as quickly as possible.
The EO2101 can be installed using one of three techniques. Option one, ‘floating floor’, is achieved by gluing the tongue and groove parts of the board and allow the floor as a whole to float, usually cushioned with use of an underlay. Option two would be to secret nail the tongue part of the plank into a wooden subfloor. Finally, option three would be to stick the timber directly onto the subfloor with use of flooring adhesive.
