Our High Gloss Silver Grey HDF Engineered European Wood Flooring is made from the finest oak and has a total thickness of 13mm with a 2.5mm solid hardtop wear layer. This product comes in fixed lengths of 2200mm and has a width of 180mm per plank. Fixed length flooring is ideal for those who have precise measurements and crave a more uniformed appearance.

Although the images online tend to make things look darker than they actually are, you will notice that the colour of this flooring is pretty dark. This shade does tend to suit homes with larger spaces/rooms as the flooring doesn't then make the room appear smaller. Although this shade of flooring is renowned for adding depth and warmth to a room. This product is finished with a 7 layer high gloss finish to give a smooth shiny surface, which, in turn makes the flooring incredibly easy to clean and maintain.

This is another one of our rustic products, this basically means the planks have more knots and imperfections which boost the products appeal by giving it much more character and warmth. This has resulted in the rustic grade of wood becoming the most popular in the flooring industry!

Each plank has a 2V Groove, bevelled edge, resulting more individual definition per plank. It is also worth noting that this floor can be restored by being sanded down up to 3 times, however it shouldn't be necessary to do so for the first 15-20 years.

Installation

If you’re looking to install solid or engineered wood flooring by hand, here are a few things to bear in mind:

Tongue and Groove vs Click

Before you purchase your solid wood flooring, check which installation system it uses. There are two main types: ‘Tongue and Groove’ and ‘Click’.

• Tongue and Groove is more traditional, ensuring dimensional stability and strength. Along one edge, a ‘tongue’ protrudes from the centre of the board, whilst on the other, an indented groove is cut into the wood. This allows each board to fit together securely.

• Click installation is quick and hassle free. Like tongue and groove, click boards fit together, however, the click method allows the boards to lock into place, snapping together with a single movement.

Floating

Many fitters prefer floating their boards due to quick and easy installation. Floating does not require you to fix your flooring to a subfloor, however, only click planks can be fitted this way.

Adhesive is applied to the groove for added stability, and underlay is fitted underneath the board. This cuts down on labour, whilst ensuring that your boards are comfortable and strong underfoot.

Fixing

Fixing your flooring to the subfloor will encourage a long lifespan and minimal movement. Both Tongue and Groove and Click boards can be fitted this way, however, it is more popular with the former.

Depending on the material of your subfloor, boards can be fixed in a variety of ways. For solid surfaces such as concrete, adhesive is applied directly under the board. For wooden subfloors, the boards can be ‘secret nailed’ along the tongue. Both methods are equally beneficial, giving you outstanding results.
