183mm Smoked & White Oiled Click Engineered European Oak Wood Flooring has a total thickness of 15mm with a 4mm solid hardtop wear layer. This product comes in fixed lengths of 1860mm.

This product is oiled which gives the plank a natural, matt surface which is easy to keep clean. Each plank has a 4V Groove, bevelled edge giving each plank more definition individually. This floor can be sanded down up to 3 times however it shouldn't be necessary to do so for the first 15-20 years.

This floor is installed using a click system making it an extremely quick and easy task, perfect for DIY installation. The grade of this product is rustic meaning the planks have more knots and imperfections giving the product much more character and warmth. The rustic grade is the most popular grades in the wood flooring industry and can inject that extra bit of personality into a room.

This white finish is a more unique shade that can contrast the warmth the rustic finish brings. It makes a room seem more elegant and large due to the way the light bounces of the light coloured floor. This makes it perfect for smaller rooms. Although it is white in finish, it is not pure white as tiles would be for example, meaning your house will not be made cold and unnatural looking. The beauty of this flooring is that it works well in most rooms around the home, as well as being incredibly adaptable to any interior decor.

Installation

If you’re looking to install solid or engineered wood flooring by hand, here are a few things to bear in mind:

Tongue and Groove vs Click

Before you purchase your solid wood flooring, check which installation system it uses. There are two main types: ‘Tongue and Groove’ and ‘Click’.

• Tongue and Groove is more traditional, ensuring dimensional stability and strength. Along one edge, a ‘tongue’ protrudes from the centre of the board, whilst on the other, an indented groove is cut into the wood. This allows each board to fit together securely.

• Click installation is quick and hassle free. Like tongue and groove, click boards fit together, however, the click method allows the boards to lock into place, snapping together with a single movement.

Floating

Many fitters prefer floating their boards due to quick and easy installation. Floating does not require you to fix your flooring to a subfloor, however, only click planks can be fitted this way.

Adhesive is applied to the groove for added stability, and underlay is fitted underneath the board. This cuts down on labour, whilst ensuring that your boards are comfortable and strong underfoot.

Fixing

Fixing your flooring to the subfloor will encourage a long lifespan and minimal movement. Both Tongue and Groove and Click boards can be fitted this way, however, it is more popular with the former.

Depending on the material of your subfloor, boards can be fixed in a variety of ways. For solid surfaces such as concrete, adhesive is applied directly under the board. For wooden subfloors, the boards can be ‘secret nailed’ along the tongue. Both methods are equally beneficial, giving you outstanding results.
