Our Brushed and Oiled Engineered European Oak Wood Flooring has a total thickness of 20mm with a 6mm solid hardtop wear layer. This product comes fixed lengths of 1900mm and a width of 190mm. Each plank has a 4V Groove, bevelled edge.
This product is lightly brushed and finished with a UV oil that is added during the manufacturing of the wood. Once the oil has been applied the flooring is placed under UV lights to speed up the drying process, the joy of having flooring with a UV oil finish is that unlike natural oil, it does not require another coat of oil once it has been installed.
The flooring can be installed using one of three methods; floating, nailed or glued down. It is entirely up to you which one, if you do need some assistance we have a handy installation guide that is available to download from our website!
You may have seen a lot of the word 'rustic' flying around, that is the grade of this product and it basically means that the planks have more knots and imperfections in them, however this adds a lot of character to the wood and is probably why the grade has become such a popular choice.
We offer a 25 years guarantee on all our products however it is worth mentioning that this floor can be sanded down up to 7 times, however it shouldn't be necessary to do so for the first 15-20 years.
If you’re looking to install solid or engineered wood flooring by hand, here are a few things to bear in mind:Tongue and Groove vs Click
Before you purchase your solid wood flooring, check which installation system it uses. There are two main types: ‘Tongue and Groove’ and ‘Click’.
• Tongue and Groove is more traditional, ensuring dimensional stability and strength. Along one edge, a ‘tongue’ protrudes from the centre of the board, whilst on the other, an indented groove is cut into the wood. This allows each board to fit together securely.
• Click installation is quick and hassle free. Like tongue and groove, click boards fit together, however, the click method allows the boards to lock into place, snapping together with a single movement.Floating
Many fitters prefer floating their boards due to quick and easy installation. Floating does not require you to fix your flooring to a subfloor, however, only click planks can be fitted this way.
Adhesive is applied to the groove for added stability, and underlay is fitted underneath the board. This cuts down on labour, whilst ensuring that your boards are comfortable and strong underfoot.Fixing
Fixing your flooring to the subfloor will encourage a long lifespan and minimal movement. Both Tongue and Groove and Click boards can be fitted this way, however, it is more popular with the former.
Depending on the material of your subfloor, boards can be fixed in a variety of ways. For solid surfaces such as concrete, adhesive is applied directly under the board. For wooden subfloors, the boards can be ‘secret nailed’ along the tongue. Both methods are equally beneficial, giving you outstanding results.
