190mm Golden Hand Scraped Engineered European Oak Wood Flooring – product code EO1048 - is 20mm thick with a 6mm wear layer which comes in fixed lengths of 1860mm. This product is hand scraped which is one of the most popular flooring finishes on the market offering each plank a distressed antique approach. This Golden hand scraped product is elegantly pre finished with seven coats of pearl satin UV lacquer giving it ultimate protection, durability and easy to maintain.
Each plank has a V Groove, bevelled edge giving each plank more natural definition. This floor can be sanded down up to 7 times however it shouldn't be necessary to do so for the first 15-20 years. The grade of this product is rustic meaning the planks have more knots and imperfections giving the floor much more natural character. The rustic grade is the most popular grade in the wood flooring industry.
Engineered wood flooring is made from layers of plywood stuck together before being finished with a layer of lamella for a high quality finish. Because of its structure, engineered wood flooring is therefore suitable for use with underfloor heating. Its ability to withstand fluctuations in temperatures also means that it is able to be used in rooms such as conservatories and basements, making its applications much wider than other floor types. This hand scraped finish, makes the surface layer resistant to water splashes or spillages, so if you do happen to have an accident this will simply just mop up without seeping into the surface. However as this is a natural product we would always advise you to mop up any spillages or splashes as quickly as possible.
The EO1048 can be installed using one of three techniques. Option one, ‘floating floor’, is achieved by gluing the tongue and groove parts of the board and allow the floor as a whole to float, usually cushioned with use of an underlay. Option two would be to secret nail the tongue part of the plank into a wooden subfloor. Finally, option three would be to stick the timber directly onto the subfloor with use of flooring adhesive.
