Our 190mm Pearl Satin Lacquered Random Length Engineered European Oak Wood Flooring 14/3mm Thick – product code EO2002 - has a width of 190mm (19cm). A plank width of 190mm is deemed a fairly wide plank width – ideal for open plan spaces and/or larger rooms within your household e.g. the living room. This product comes in random lengths between 300-1800mm. Random length (RL) enable your fitter to lay individual floorboards in a staggered formation with the intention of creating a natural looking, free flowing floor. EO2002 has an overall thickness of 14mm with a 3mm wear layer (real oak). This floor can be sanded down up to 4 times in total, however this shouldn't be necessary for the first 15-20 years. Multi-ply backed engineered flooring is extremely resilient to temperature changes, which makes it well suited for use over under floor heating; both electrical and water based systems. Due to the thickness of this product (14mm) the under floor heat transfer will be near its maximum efficiency when coupled with a low tog underlay. This lacquered, engineered oak product has been pre-finished with seven layers of pearl satin lacquer giving it ample protection while maintaining the timber’s knots and natural imperfections. As this engineered oak product has been finished with pearl satin lacquer, you are able to sand down and re-finish localised areas that give the floor a new lease of life. The grading of this engineered oak product is ABC meaning there will be some knots and natural imperfections on the surface of the planks, as you would expect with any natural wood product. This is often seen as the main attraction when purchasing a natural product. This particular product is relatively easy to lay, as you are not required to fully bond it to the subfloor. The two most common methods of installation when it comes to engineered products would be either to lay it as a floating floor above an underlay or alternatively secret nail the floorboards directly to the wooden subfloor beneath. Engineered flooring products are far more stable when compared to solid products and this is what allows you to lay an engineered product as a floating floor, usually leaving an expansion gap around the perimeter of the room.
