Luxury Flooring’s 207mm Pearl Satin Lacquered Engineered 3 Strip Click European Oak Wood Flooring 10/2.5mm Thick is the only 3 strip product we offer in our engineered wood flooring range.

207mm Pearl Satin Lacquered Engineered 3 Strip Click European Oak Wood Flooring 10/2.5mm Thick – product code EC3185 - has a total thickness of 10mm with a 2.5mm real oak wear layer. This allows you to sand down and refinish the product up to three times in total should you ever feel it necessary. Here at Luxury Flooring, we don’t believe you would be required to carry out this process for at least the first ten to fifteen years.

This pearl satin lacquered product is elegantly finished with seven coats of pearl satin lacquer, which gives the timber that much needed protection and also makes it easier to clean and maintain.

EC3185 has a fairly wide plank width of 207mm (20.7cm). However, the ‘3 strip’ effect gives the impression there is three planks per each actual 207mm plank – making this product perfect for both small and larger rooms within the property. EC3185 is what is known as a fixed length product (FL). This product comes in fixed lengths of 1092mm.

The grade of this product is rustic. This means the product is likely to have more knots and natural imperfections within the batch - giving the product much more natural character. The rustic grade is currently the most popular grade in the wood flooring industry. You may have noticed that this product uses the ‘click’ method of installation. Click or glue-less engineered oak flooring has a handful of clear benefits when compared with a product that uses the tongue and groove installation method. First and foremost, each plank simply clicks together like a jigsaw without the need for joint glue. This not only speeds up the process of laying the actual floor but is also an entirely mess free way of installing. The click method of installation also allows you to lift up and reposition/remove any specific planks, which may have been marked over time.

Here at luxuryflooring.co.uk, we don’t just supply beautiful floors; we also offer a full range of flooring accessories that are stained to match your floor including thresholds, beading and skirting boards! Please see our accessories tab for more information.

If you’re looking to install solid or engineered wood flooring by hand, here are a few things to bear in mind:

Tongue and Groove vs Click

Before you purchase your solid wood flooring, check which installation system it uses. There are two main types: ‘Tongue and Groove’ and ‘Click’.

• Tongue and Groove is more traditional, ensuring dimensional stability and strength. Along one edge, a ‘tongue’ protrudes from the centre of the board, whilst on the other, an indented groove is cut into the wood. This allows each board to fit together securely.

• Click installation is quick and hassle free. Like tongue and groove, click boards fit together, however, the click method allows the boards to lock into place, snapping together with a single movement.

Many fitters prefer floating their boards due to quick and easy installation. Floating does not require you to fix your flooring to a subfloor, however, only click planks can be fitted this way.

Adhesive is applied to the groove for added stability, and underlay is fitted underneath the board. This cuts down on labour, whilst ensuring that your boards are comfortable and strong underfoot.

Fixing your flooring to the subfloor will encourage a long lifespan and minimal movement. Both Tongue and Groove and Click boards can be fitted this way, however, it is more popular with the former.

Depending on the material of your subfloor, boards can be fixed in a variety of ways. For solid surfaces such as concrete, adhesive is applied directly under the board. For wooden subfloors, the boards can be ‘secret nailed’ along the tongue. Both methods are equally beneficial, giving you outstanding results.
