Our Distressed Antique Honey Engineered Oak Wood Flooring (product code OD7011) has a total thickness measuring 15mm, making this choice of flooring perfect for areas of light-to-moderate foot traffic. Whilst this product is a more cost-effective alternative to thicker boards, the 11mm multi-ply core ensures that every board is incredibly strong and stable. Manufactured using multiple layers of compressed timber, engineered boards are highly versatile, and can be installed in areas with extreme conditions. Whether you choose to install your boards in your kitchen, conservatory, or over underfloor heating, you won’t have to worry about potential buckling or shrinkages. On top of the multi-ply structure, a 4mm surface veneer of solid oak is applied. Oak consistently delivers stunning visual results, unbeatable practicality, and can be sanded and re-finished a total of 5 times!

A distressed finish has been selected for the lamella of this product. Taking advantage of the natural imperfections exhibited by the wood, each board makes use of knots, blemishes, and colour variations to deliver a rustic aesthetic. In addition, a stain of Antique Honey has been applied to the surface, enhancing the personality of the wood by darkening the colour of the grain. Measuring at 220mm in width, each plank is given the space to show off its intricate textures. With fixed length boards, you can achieve the prototypical staggered effect that is revered amongst homeowners.

The design of each board incorporates a micro-bevelled edge for improved definition, and a ‘tongue and groove’ installation system for easy fitting. As engineered boards are manufactured with the ability to fit securely into one another, there is no need for excessive use of nails or adhesives. Consequently, this is an excellent product for those who are enthusiastic about DIY.

We put faith in all of our products. To demonstrate this with OD7011, we provide an impressive 25-year guarantee. This not only vouches for the longevity of our engineered flooring, but also keeps your mind at ease, knowing that you’ve made an exceptional choice.

Installation

If you’re looking to install solid or engineered wood flooring by hand, here are a few things to bear in mind:

Tongue and Groove vs Click

Before you purchase your solid wood flooring, check which installation system it uses. There are two main types: ‘Tongue and Groove’ and ‘Click’.

• Tongue and Groove is more traditional, ensuring dimensional stability and strength. Along one edge, a ‘tongue’ protrudes from the centre of the board, whilst on the other, an indented groove is cut into the wood. This allows each board to fit together securely.

• Click installation is quick and hassle free. Like tongue and groove, click boards fit together, however, the click method allows the boards to lock into place, snapping together with a single movement.

Floating

Many fitters prefer floating their boards due to quick and easy installation. Floating does not require you to fix your flooring to a subfloor, however, only click planks can be fitted this way.

Adhesive is applied to the groove for added stability, and underlay is fitted underneath the board. This cuts down on labour, whilst ensuring that your boards are comfortable and strong underfoot.

Fixing

Fixing your flooring to the subfloor will encourage a long lifespan and minimal movement. Both Tongue and Groove and Click boards can be fitted this way, however, it is more popular with the former.

Depending on the material of your subfloor, boards can be fixed in a variety of ways. For solid surfaces such as concrete, adhesive is applied directly under the board. For wooden subfloors, the boards can be ‘secret nailed’ along the tongue. Both methods are equally beneficial, giving you outstanding results.
