Our White Smoked Herringbone Engineered Tongue and Groove Oak Wood Flooring (product code PAR197) delivers the complexities of classic parquet without the added hassle. Measuring at a fixed length of 400mm, and a width of 90mm, each board comes with an integrated ‘tongue and groove’ system. This allows each board to fit together like a jigsaw, fitting into place safely and securely.

The intricate herringbone design is matched with a character grade of solid oak, promising unparalleled personality and character. Each wear layer is hand selected with beauty and practicality in mind, ensuring that a perfect balance of fine grains and natural imperfections is achieved with every plank. For additional attention to detail, this product has been given a 4-sided bevelled edge during the manufacturing process. This heightens the realism of engineered boards, giving them the prototypical appearance of traditional hardwood flooring. Finally, the boards are smoked in an atmosphere of ammonia, bathed in a gorgeous white stain, and finished with a protective oil coating. This effect is incredibly unique, exhibiting a mixture of chic, rustic textures, and contemporary, Scandinavian style.

Each board has a total thickness of 18mm, split between an 14mm multi-ply core and a 4mm solid wood veneer. The stable composition of engineered flooring permits boards to be fitted in areas with extreme conditions. Due to the compressed core, the boards remain unsusceptible to warping and buckling if met with moisture or humidity, making them an ideal solution for underfloor heating. Alongside this, the depth of the surface veneer allows for this product to be sanded up to 4 times, proving an ideal choice for areas of low-to-moderate footfall.

We have a great deal of confidence regarding the lifespan of our engineered flooring. As a gesture of our certainty, PAR197 comes with an impressive 25-year guarantee, so you can rest assured that your flooring is built to last.

If you’re looking to install solid or engineered wood flooring by hand, here are a few things to bear in mind:

Tongue and Groove vs Click

Before you purchase your solid wood flooring, check which installation system it uses. There are two main types: ‘Tongue and Groove’ and ‘Click’.

• Tongue and Groove is more traditional, ensuring dimensional stability and strength. Along one edge, a ‘tongue’ protrudes from the centre of the board, whilst on the other, an indented groove is cut into the wood. This allows each board to fit together securely.

• Click installation is quick and hassle free. Like tongue and groove, click boards fit together, however, the click method allows the boards to lock into place, snapping together with a single movement.

Many fitters prefer floating their boards due to quick and easy installation. Floating does not require you to fix your flooring to a subfloor, however, only click planks can be fitted this way.

Adhesive is applied to the groove for added stability, and underlay is fitted underneath the board. This cuts down on labour, whilst ensuring that your boards are comfortable and strong underfoot.

Fixing your flooring to the subfloor will encourage a long lifespan and minimal movement. Both Tongue and Groove and Click boards can be fitted this way, however, it is more popular with the former.

Depending on the material of your subfloor, boards can be fixed in a variety of ways. For solid surfaces such as concrete, adhesive is applied directly under the board. For wooden subfloors, the boards can be ‘secret nailed’ along the tongue. Both methods are equally beneficial, giving you outstanding results.
