The Chamonix Clock Oak 90 x 580 x 16/4mm 45 Degrees Chevron Engineered Wood Flooring is 90m(W)x580mm(L) and 16mm thick with a 4mm wear layer. The fact we offer a 25 year guarantee with this product truly shows just how much faith we have in its quality and durability.

The beveled edges on this flooring add depth and definition, meaning they make a room look larger. The fact this floor is oak also adds atmosphere to a room - the grain and knots add elegance, whereas the shade fits in with modern dark and wooden decor.

The prime grade of this product means that the planks have few knots and imperfections. This gives an end look of a clean cut and sophisticated floor which would help to give a more modern look.

The chevron pattern brings flow to a room and can direct the eyes to a piece of furniture that you want to accentuate, based on its placement. It is something unique with personality and differs from not only other flooring, but other parquet flooring.

The planks are engineered, meaning they have greater stability than solid wood and can handle humidity changes better, but look just the same. This makes them suitable for underfloor heating, and more resistant to warping or shrinkage in such conditions - so are bathroom and kitchen friendly too! They will also last longer than solid wood in rooms with lots of natural light, due to the temperature changes this brings.

This floor should be glued directly onto the subfloor with use of flooring adhesive. Please see the full, downloadable installation guide in the installation tab above for more information.

Installation

If you’re looking to install solid or engineered wood flooring by hand, here are a few things to bear in mind:

Tongue and Groove vs Click

Before you purchase your solid wood flooring, check which installation system it uses. There are two main types: ‘Tongue and Groove’ and ‘Click’.

• Tongue and Groove is more traditional, ensuring dimensional stability and strength. Along one edge, a ‘tongue’ protrudes from the centre of the board, whilst on the other, an indented groove is cut into the wood. This allows each board to fit together securely.

• Click installation is quick and hassle free. Like tongue and groove, click boards fit together, however, the click method allows the boards to lock into place, snapping together with a single movement.

Floating

Many fitters prefer floating their boards due to quick and easy installation. Floating does not require you to fix your flooring to a subfloor, however, only click planks can be fitted this way.

Adhesive is applied to the groove for added stability, and underlay is fitted underneath the board. This cuts down on labour, whilst ensuring that your boards are comfortable and strong underfoot.

Fixing

Fixing your flooring to the subfloor will encourage a long lifespan and minimal movement. Both Tongue and Groove and Click boards can be fitted this way, however, it is more popular with the former.

Depending on the material of your subfloor, boards can be fixed in a variety of ways. For solid surfaces such as concrete, adhesive is applied directly under the board. For wooden subfloors, the boards can be ‘secret nailed’ along the tongue. Both methods are equally beneficial, giving you outstanding results.
