This elegant oak lacquered product is made from the second most popular grade of engineered options available here at Luxury Flooring. It is known as Select wood (ABC), this means that the wood contains some knots but not as many as the natural grade, so if you’re looking for something a little more uniformed that still has a nice colour variation then this could be the one for you.
Our Pearl Satin Lacquered Herringbone Engineered Oak Wood Flooring has a plank width of 90mm. This could be seen as incredibly narrow but as a general rule of thumb, narrow floorboards can make a small room/space look and feel bigger, which is ideal for hallways or perhaps smaller bedrooms.
This product comes in fixed lengths of 400mm, which is ideal if you are a precise planner who likes to get things down to the last mm. If you are after a uniformed, concise flooring pattern then fixed length should do the trick, just make sure you've measured up correctly and the rest will follow!
This Pearl Satin Lacquered Oak is elegantly pre finished with seven coats of natural UV lacquer which ensures ultimate protection and durability. The lacquer provides a shiny, gloss finish and is incredibly easy to clean and maintain whilst offering a beautiful modern finish. Each plank has a 4V Groove, bevelled edge which provides more definition per individual plank. We would advise that this product can be sanded down up to 6 times, however we would not deem this necessary to do for the first 15-20 years.
If you’re looking to install solid or engineered wood flooring by hand, here are a few things to bear in mind:Tongue and Groove vs Click
Before you purchase your solid wood flooring, check which installation system it uses. There are two main types: ‘Tongue and Groove’ and ‘Click’.
• Tongue and Groove is more traditional, ensuring dimensional stability and strength. Along one edge, a ‘tongue’ protrudes from the centre of the board, whilst on the other, an indented groove is cut into the wood. This allows each board to fit together securely.
• Click installation is quick and hassle free. Like tongue and groove, click boards fit together, however, the click method allows the boards to lock into place, snapping together with a single movement.Fixing
Fixing your flooring to the subfloor will encourage a long lifespan and minimal movement. Both Tongue and Groove and Click boards can be fitted this way, however, it is more popular with the former.
Depending on the material of your subfloor, boards can be fixed in a variety of ways. For solid surfaces such as concrete, adhesive is applied directly under the board. For wooden subfloors, the boards can be ‘secret nailed’ along the tongue. Both methods are equally beneficial, giving you outstanding results.
