Grades Explained
Rustic planks contain knots, imperfections and colour variation found in natural wood. Any open knots and imperfections will be filled in, giving your floor an aged wood effect.
Prime wood contains minimal colour variation and knots, making it the ultimate choice for a clean, uniform finish.

Description
Elgin Oats Oak 300 x 20/6mm has a total thickness of 20mm with a 6mm solid hardtop wear layer which comes in fixed lengths of 2200mm. This product is unfinished allowing the end user to finish it to how they desire. Over recent years self finishing has become more popular as there are now many different oils and lacquers on market, which offer more precision to help you create your dream floor.
Each plank has a 4V Groove, bevelled edge giving each plank an incredible sense of definition for each individual plank. This floor can be sanded down up to 6 times, however it shouldn't be necessary to do so for the first 15-20 years. The grade of this product is rustic meaning the planks have more knots and imperfections giving the product much more character and warmth. The rustic grade is the most popular grade in the wood flooring industry.
The way in which engineered flooring is made makes it not only stunning, but practical too. This means that it is perfect for using in kitchens, where exposure to dirt is quite common. Unlike its solid wood counterpart, engineered wood is suitable to be used with underfloor heating. An excellent conductor of heat, engineered wood can retain and circulate heat leaving your rooms warmer, for longer. Underfloor heating is increasingly becoming the go to for heating in modern homes thanks to its ability to heat a room evenly. Therefore finding a floor that can work in conjunction with this is imperative.
The Elgin Oats Oak can be installed using one of two techniques. Option one would be to secret nail the tongue part of the plank into a wooden subfloor. Option two would be to stick the timber directly onto the subfloor with use of flooring adhesive. Please see the full, downloadable installation guide in the installation tab above for more information.
