Gerflor Taralay Impression Control Non Slip Safety Flooring Ottawa Poplar is 2m wide and 2mm thick with a 0.7mm wear layer. It is also suitable for underfloor heating up to 27 degrees celsius so you can use this without worrying about health and safety.
This floor is lighter than others in this range, meaning it can make a room seem larger and more positive. Being a neutral tone however, this floor can easily suit any colour scheme. Its natural and earthy colour helps offset bright colours elsewhere in decor and walls for example. It also helps balance patterned rooms and complements dark colours with its refreshing simplicity.
A wood effect safety floor helps provide a natural and rustic appearance, which is good for creating an atmosphere in retail, catering or beauty environments for example, but without the associated slip risk of a non-safety floor. Spaces that may experience spillages would not only be slippery on engineered and solid wood, but warp and damage wood too. A wood effect safety floor solves all the problems associated with wood whilst providing a beautiful natural seeming finish, that is almost impossible to differentiate from the real thing.
This floor has a R11 slip resistance rating, meaning it is suitable for environments that have a very high slip risk due to unavoidable constant spillages, but aren't consistently wet - for example toilets, bathrooms and busy kitchens. The manufacturer also recommends use of this range of floor in catering, retail, education and healthcare. For wetter environments like showers or pools, we would recommend an R13 floor as an alternative.
Safety flooring is recommended for commercial environments where a slip risk is present or a standard of hygiene is required due to their slip resistance and easy cleaning in comparison to other floors. Each floor has a slip resistance rating from R9-R13, and the higher the number the more resistant. This indicates which environments or scenarios the floor is question will be suited for. Examples of settings where safety floors should be used are catering, leisure, retail, education, healthcare, or transport - you can find a floor suitable for all of these environments on our website in a variety of colours and styles.
Gerflor specialise in resilient flooring, perfect for heavy footfall or abuse from furniture in an office for example. They innovate in terms of design, are easy to maintain and are environmentally responsible with recycled products, meaning there is nothing you can lose with a Gerflor floor.
