Kahrs Supreme Shine Collection Black Copper Ash Engineered Wood Flooring - product code KAH1035 - has a total thickness of 15mm with a 3.6mm solid hardtop wear layer. This product comes in fixed lengths of 2420mm. This product has a high gloss lacquer finish that gives the floor not only that all important protective layer, but also brings a beautiful shine that helps to reflect light brilliantly.

Each plank has a bevelled edge giving each plank more definition individually. A bevelled edge creates a realistic looking product that replicates the look of solid wood seamlessly. Plus, with our 30 year guarantee you can rely on your floor looking stunning for years. The grade of this product is prime, which means the product comes with some natural imperfections and knots on the surface but is the highest quality on the market. This minimises imperfections but with any natural product, some will still occur. This floor is installed using a click system making it an extremely quick and easy task, perfect for DIY installation. Please see the full, downloadable installation guide in the installation tab above for more information.

Thanks to the way engineered flooring is constructed the material is incredibly water resistant. This means that it is perfect for using in kitchens, where exposure to water is quite common. This means you can get that incredible wood floor look in your kitchen coupled with the ease of maintenance as it can be easily cleaned. Engineered wood can also be used with underfloor heating as it has the ability to withstand fluctuations in temperatures and can therefore also be used in rooms such as conservatories and basements.

If you’re looking to install solid or engineered wood flooring by hand, here are a few things to bear in mind:

Tongue and Groove vs Click

Before you purchase your solid wood flooring, check which installation system it uses. There are two main types: ‘Tongue and Groove’ and ‘Click’.

• Tongue and Groove is more traditional, ensuring dimensional stability and strength. Along one edge, a ‘tongue’ protrudes from the centre of the board, whilst on the other, an indented groove is cut into the wood. This allows each board to fit together securely.

• Click installation is quick and hassle free. Like tongue and groove, click boards fit together, however, the click method allows the boards to lock into place, snapping together with a single movement.

Many fitters prefer floating their boards due to quick and easy installation. Floating does not require you to fix your flooring to a subfloor, however, only click planks can be fitted this way.

Adhesive is applied to the groove for added stability, and underlay is fitted underneath the board. This cuts down on labour, whilst ensuring that your boards are comfortable and strong underfoot.

Fixing your flooring to the subfloor will encourage a long lifespan and minimal movement. Both Tongue and Groove and Click boards can be fitted this way, however, it is more popular with the former.

Depending on the material of your subfloor, boards can be fixed in a variety of ways. For solid surfaces such as concrete, adhesive is applied directly under the board. For wooden subfloors, the boards can be ‘secret nailed’ along the tongue. Both methods are equally beneficial, giving you outstanding results.
