Vinyl is extremely durable, lasting for many years after installation. Anyone that is familiar with vinyl will know that it looks good as new for many years without showing wear, as well as feeing cushioned under foot and anti-slip. It is also extremely easy to clean, with only needing a quick sweep and mop a couple of times a week. Additionally, it is stain, water and scratch proof, so don’t hesitate laying it in rooms that have more exposure to this.
This flooring presents a convincing replica of the desirable, affluent look of real wood. Many people enjoy the natural premise of wood but want something easier on the wallet and easier to manage. The variation of colours, as well as the knots and grains make it almost impossible to tell it apart from real wood. Additionally, you can install underfloor heating with vinyl due to it withstanding fluctuating temperatures, something real wood cannot do.
This flooring has a lot going on due to the differing patterns and colours - this is advantageous as it is better at disguising dirt, a benefit over a plainer floor. Not only this, but it increases the character and rustic appeal of the product. Our 30-year guarantee shows how much we trust in the endurance of our products!
If you’re looking to install luxury vinyl tiles by hand, there are a few things to bear in mind:
Glue Down vs Click
Before you purchase your LVT, check which installation system it uses. There are two main types: ‘Glue Down’ and ‘Click’.
• Glue Down is more traditional, ensuring dimensional stability and strength. Each tile is placed in a desired pattern, and set alongside the neighbouring tiles.
• Click installation is quick and hassle free. Each tile fits together seamlessly and securely, locking into place with a single movement.
Many fitters prefer floating their tiles due to quick and easy installation. Floating does not require you to fix your flooring to a subfloor, however, only click tiles can be fitted this way.
A thin underlay is fitted underneath the tile to encourage cushioning underfoot. Floating helps cut down on labour, whilst ensuring that your boards are comfortable and strong underfoot.
Fixing your flooring to the subfloor will ensure a long lifespan and minimal movement. Both Glue Down and Click tiles can be fitted this way, however, it is more popular with the former.
LVT can be installed above most existing hard surfaces, such as concrete, plywood, tiles, and wood boards. Adhesive is applied directly under the tile, setting rigidly into place.
