A smoked wood has become very popular due to its rustic appeal. Vinyl presents a convincing imitation of real wood, but with added practical benefits at a cheaper price.
Vinyl is very easy to clean, with only a quick sweep and a mop necessary. A darker coloured flooring is advantageous as it disguises the dirt better than a lighter flooring - great for busy family homes. We also offer a generous 30-year guarantee.
This flooring shows off a stunning variation of colours, grain and knots throughout, adding to the natural look. Vinyl is also cushioned and soft underfoot as well as cooperating with underfloor heating - warm for your children and pets playing on the floor!
Vinyl is one of the most durable options out there, lasting for years even after the strains of everyday life. It is also stain, scratch and water proof, making it a popular choice for rooms that see more exposure to this. We’d recommend matching this flooring with lighter coloured walls to keep an light, airy feel to the room.
If you’re looking to install luxury vinyl tiles by hand, there are a few things to bear in mind:
Glue Down vs Click
Before you purchase your LVT, check which installation system it uses. There are two main types: ‘Glue Down’ and ‘Click’.
• Glue Down is more traditional, ensuring dimensional stability and strength. Each tile is placed in a desired pattern, and set alongside the neighbouring tiles.
• Click installation is quick and hassle free. Each tile fits together seamlessly and securely, locking into place with a single movement.
Many fitters prefer floating their tiles due to quick and easy installation. Floating does not require you to fix your flooring to a subfloor, however, only click tiles can be fitted this way.
A thin underlay is fitted underneath the tile to encourage cushioning underfoot. Floating helps cut down on labour, whilst ensuring that your boards are comfortable and strong underfoot.
Fixing your flooring to the subfloor will ensure a long lifespan and minimal movement. Both Glue Down and Click tiles can be fitted this way, however, it is more popular with the former.
LVT can be installed above most existing hard surfaces, such as concrete, plywood, tiles, and wood boards. Adhesive is applied directly under the tile, setting rigidly into place.
