Nest Fumed Oak Luxury Vinyl Tile Wood Flooring is 1219.2mm long and 152mm wide, and has a total thickness of 2.5mm. It also has a wear layer of 0.55mm.

This product has square edges, meaning that the planks fit together tightly and don’t show any gaps. Square edged products are straight cut with no shaping to the plank edges, which causes the planks to lie together smoothly for a clean cut finish.

Vinyl flooring looks identical to the material it emulates, but is always a fraction of the price of authentic alternatives. It is comfortable for walking on, as it is thick, cushioned, and works well with underfloor heating to maintain heat year round. Alternatives do not provide this. Vinyl is also hard-wearing, meaning it can withstand lots of footfall, as well as being non-absorbent, anti-slip and easy to clean. This makes it suitable for the bathroom, kitchen, hallway, lounge and dining room, aided by the fact it is available in the style of any material or pattern you can think of!

A vinyl oak floor is indistinguishable from a real oak floor. The grain and knots of natural oak flooring are well replicated in our range, and bring a warm cosy feeling into any home. This particular oak is darker, meaning you still get the grain and knots in oak, but with a darker hue that looks even more elegant and can better match light decor such as rugs.

Vinyl wood creates that air of elegance without the price tag or deforestation that occurs with authentic wood, which is especially useful for those who want to look after the planet and their wallet. It also has the advantage of not warping or shrinking in changes to humidity like real wood does, meaning underfloor heating is suitable and your floor will stay as you bought it for years to come.

For this floor, there is a glue down installation method, meaning adhesive will be used to put the floor down. This method ensures the flooring is stable and won’t lift, and will stay down longer than other methods. This floor will not move with lots of traffic or wheelchair use for example.

Installation

If you’re looking to install luxury vinyl tiles by hand, there are a few things to bear in mind:

Glue Down vs Click

Before you purchase your LVT, check which installation system it uses. There are two main types: ‘Glue Down’ and ‘Click’.

• Glue Down is more traditional, ensuring dimensional stability and strength. Each tile is placed in a desired pattern, and set alongside the neighbouring tiles.

• Click installation is quick and hassle free. Each tile fits together seamlessly and securely, locking into place with a single movement.

Floating

Many fitters prefer floating their tiles due to quick and easy installation. Floating does not require you to fix your flooring to a subfloor, however, only click tiles can be fitted this way.

A thin underlay is fitted underneath the tile to encourage cushioning underfoot. Floating helps cut down on labour, whilst ensuring that your boards are comfortable and strong underfoot.

Fixing

Fixing your flooring to the subfloor will ensure a long lifespan and minimal movement. Both Glue Down and Click tiles can be fitted this way, however, it is more popular with the former.

LVT can be installed above most existing hard surfaces, such as concrete, plywood, tiles, and wood boards. Adhesive is applied directly under the tile, setting rigidly into place.
