Perfect for those who are wanting to achieve that modern look but enjoy the natural imperfections of wood that this product presents beautifully. Vinyl is one of the most resilient choices of flooring, perfect for busy family households and rooms that see heavy usage. Additionally, it is scratch, stain and waterproof, the faultless choice for the bathroom and kitchen where spillages are a common occurrence – its anti-slip surface is beneficial if you have little ones charging around the house too!
Vinyl is also able with withstand fluctuating temperatures, making it suitable for rooms such as the conservatory or boiler room. This also means it is able to cooperate with underfloor heating, something we are seeing more and more of in our homes. We have also thrown in a fantastic 30-year guarantee to give you peace of mind!
If you’re looking to install luxury vinyl tiles by hand, there are a few things to bear in mind:
Glue Down vs Click
Before you purchase your LVT, check which installation system it uses. There are two main types: ‘Glue Down’ and ‘Click’.
• Glue Down is more traditional, ensuring dimensional stability and strength. Each tile is placed in a desired pattern, and set alongside the neighbouring tiles.
• Click installation is quick and hassle free. Each tile fits together seamlessly and securely, locking into place with a single movement.
Many fitters prefer floating their tiles due to quick and easy installation. Floating does not require you to fix your flooring to a subfloor, however, only click tiles can be fitted this way.
A thin underlay is fitted underneath the tile to encourage cushioning underfoot. Floating helps cut down on labour, whilst ensuring that your boards are comfortable and strong underfoot.
Fixing your flooring to the subfloor will ensure a long lifespan and minimal movement. Both Glue Down and Click tiles can be fitted this way, however, it is more popular with the former.
LVT can be installed above most existing hard surfaces, such as concrete, plywood, tiles, and wood boards. Adhesive is applied directly under the tile, setting rigidly into place.
