The Terrys wanted to bring some personality to their modern 90s home. A warm and inviting space with timeless décor was their aim, and they knew a characterful floor would be instrumental in creating that look. After comparing lots of different samples, they chose our Elgin Farmhouse Engineered Oak, a beautifully rustic wood floor that simply oozes charm!

Why did you choose Luxury Flooring?

We looked at several online flooring suppliers and chose to go with Luxury Flooring due to the free, unlimited samples, good quality products and reasonable pricing.

What was most important to you when designing your room?

Creating a space that is warm and inviting; a wood floor perfectly suits this vibe!

What’s your story?

We wanted to inject some character and personality into our modern 90s home, which was bland and needed a personality stamped on it when we moved in four years ago.

What does your home situation look like?

We bought our home four years ago with the intention of starting a family, which we did in May. We also have our dog Geoff and cat Pepper with us!

What qualities were you looking for in your new flooring?

We were looking for something warm, natural and characterful. We also wanted a thick wear layer to enable refinishing in the future, in case we ever want to repair the floor or change the colour.

What advice would you give to someone looking to transform their floor?

Think carefully about how your choice will integrate with other flooring in your property. We had the luxury of replacing the majority of the flooring in the house with the same Luxury Flooring product in one go, to allow for seamless transitions and consistency throughout.

Did any trends inspire your interior choices?

We have always leaned towards a traditional look for decor that‘s truly timeless. With something as permanent as hard flooring, it’s important to think about how it will stand the test of time; it’s not something you want to look dated as trends change.

How has your new floor improved your home?

When we moved in we had the same brown carpet throughout and one of the first jobs we decided to do was update the flooring. It’s added some character and quality to the property that was lacking before!

How did you decide on the colours and styles?

We wanted something natural that would stand the test of time. We ordered lots of samples to compare tones and sizes! We ended up choosing a brushed and oiled finish which is basically natural oak with no added colour.
