When it comes to the flooring market, you know you have lots of options - of floor types, materials, designs, and also producers. Each producer, or brand, has its own characteristics and has mastered specific floorings. And because just one post wouldn’t be enough for all those manufacturers, we are dedicating a series of posts to the most important flooring brands. The first instalment is dedicated to Karndean flooring. Karndean is so prolific and popular that is often seen as a kind of floor itself.

Karndean is the leading producer of luxury vinyl tiles. For more than 40 years, Karndean have been upgrading vinyl and they have contributed more than anybody else to the high quality and popularity vinyl tiles have.

Vinyl sheets tended to have a bad reputation as they were associated with cheap looks. Since sheet vinyl was made of PVC, it was much less expensive, but the quality of designs wasn’t there, and you could tell it was just cheap plastic. Over the years this changed, and producers like Karndean have changed the way of doing vinyl. Now you will find them imitating different materials like stone and wood, and in a wide range of designs. Producing vinyl in tiles also improves the quality, as it makes the floor much more hardwearing and looks more authentic.

Because of the many options that are available on vinyl tiles, Karndean has done different ranges, each offering different kinds of features:

Karndean Art Select

The two main features of this range are the hardwearing surface of the flooring, and the natural effect the designs have, imitating stone and wood, and with an awesome choice of parquet effects.

Karndean Da Vinci

The designs in this range are characterised by being more traditional and timeless. The range offers very stylish wood plank choices but also elegant Italianate limestone. The boards are finished with bevelled edges, which simplifies the differentiation among the boards.

Karndean Knight Tile

This is one of the least expensive ranges. The grain offers a softer texture, and the designs are amazing to their last detail. Knight tiles are available in stone and wood effect, as well as in slate.

Karndean Looselay

This is more aimed to commercial environments. It offers a selection of very hardwearing floors with extra thick layers. The result is a durable and easy caring surface but simultaneously with attractive designs.

Karndean Michelangelo

The options here follow a Mediterranean arty style, offering mosaic and lava stone tiles, giving a touch of uniqueness to your kitchen or your bathroom.

Karndean Opus

This is one the newest ranges and it has a 2.5mm thickness. It offers a selection of traditional and timeless wood and stone effects.

Karndean Palio Clic

This range has the advantage of easy installation thanks to its click locking mechanism. The designs in this range offer beautiful mottled and subtle colours, with a 4.5mm thickness that makes the floor feel extra cushioned, warm and soft.

 Karndean Van Gogh

This range is perfect if you are looking for wood looks. It comes in oak, walnut, birch and many other wood effects. Because of this, this range is very versatile and suitable for different rooms.

Karndean Korlok

Similar to Palio click, the floors from this range are very simple to install as they also come with a click locking mechanism. It offers wood effects inspired by both American and European woods.
