Wood is a natural material it therefore comes with the variables and unique differences that make wood so beautiful. There are many different grades of wood that give many different looks and there is no guarantee that any two pieces of wood will look identical. This is why you don't need to panic if your wood looks slightly different from a sample you've had, this is totally normal and the product isn't different from the sample, it may just be due to the natural variations in wood that may make it seem a little different.

This is a very important factor to consider when looking for a wood floor. When you receive your sample you should consider that the product you receive, should you order, may vary slightly in colour, knots or grains as no two trees are the same meaning no two planks will be the same. A lot of this is is down to the grade of floor you choose, as every grade has different results

A select grade wood floor is the most consistent option, offering minor colour variation, but will still have random imperfections that come with a natural product. Whereas a natural grade flooring offers a more noticeable variation in colour and general appearance as characteristics widely vary by wood species. The most popular choice in the wood flooring industry however is the rustic grade. A rustic grade floor offers many knots and imperfections and a distinctive variation in colour thanks to the rustic grade being the most authentic and genuine solid wood floor.

These are key things to remember to ensure you don't fall short. It is important to always order a sample before you buy so that you aren't surprised when the product arrives. If you order without seeing a sample the floor could look totally different to how it does in pictures. This isn't because the product is wrong, it's because natural variations cause every batch of a natural wood floor to vary slightly in colour, knots and imperfections as previously mentioned. However, if you order a sample this will give you a chance to get an idea of what the floor will look like in your home and in the specific light and size of the room you plan to install it in. Remember to keep an open mind, as the sample is exactly that, a sample.
