With Scandinavian decor being one of the key trends of 2017 we thought we’d carry it over to 2018 and discuss just why we love white flooring. Whether it’s lightly finished oak boards, or big, bright tiles.. we’re here to share our favourite styles and designs to help inspire your interiors this new year!

White floors, and the colour white in general, is perfect if you’re looking to create a tranquil and calm atmosphere in your home. Staying in line with the Scandinavian feel, white floors work particularly well in rooms that have a minimal style. The reason for this is that they then contribute to the almost ‘oasis’ vibe of the space, something that can be widely appreciated alongside the stress and rush of every day life.

Of course, white floors don’t come without questions. Many people are often sceptical about the reality of living with a white floor. One of the main concerns is how on earth do you keep them clean? More so, how do you keep them from looking tired and worn over the years? Well, in this post we will discuss the different options available to help you achieve this look and what it is you need to consider before taking a leap of faith

One of the most popular options for white floors is wood. If you already have wood floors in your home, then achieving this look shouldn’t be difficult at all. The easiest way to do so would be to sand your boards back and apply either a high quality white floor paint, or sealant. If you don’t fancy this amount of effort and already have pretty light floors, you can always just bleach the boards and add a whitewash stain.

However, if you really want to achieve that pristine look without the hard work, why not install a brand new engineered or hardwood floor that has already been finished with white stain or paint. That way you don’t have to worry about ruining the wood or making a mess because it has already been done for you!

Here at Luxury Flooring we know that real and engineered wood floors aren’t for everyone, it may be that you feel they’re too difficult to maintain or perhaps they’re a little out of your price range. If this is the case then why not consider white-washed vinyl tiles or even laminate? Both of these give you the look of real wood but at a considerably cheaper price! Not only do they offer the same appearance, but they’re also just as reliable when it comes to durability and lifespans, with each expected to last between 15 and 20 years, great value for money if you ask us!

If you’re a fan of the shabby-chic, farmhouse, vintage look and want to create an open, luxurious vibe in your home then look no further than white flooring. Especially in smaller rooms, white floors help to make a space seem much bigger and brighter than it really is, due to their ability to bounce natural light around.

Not only is white flooring good for your space, it’s also a perfect accompaniment to your furniture too. If you are looking for something to showcase your interior pieces, look no further! White floors are a fabulous foundation for any bald furnishings you may have, this is because it makes the furniture almost ‘pop’ out in the room. They also work phenomenally well with darker walls, the counterbalance between the two really sets the tone for the entire room.

So there you have it, our opinion on white-washed floors and the benefits we believe there are to having them. But don’t take our word for it, look at our full range of white flooring to see if there’s one for you!
