Polyflor Expona Commercial Wood Red Heritage Cherry Flooring – product code VIN1055 – has a total thickness of 2.5mm with a 0.55mm wear layer. The small wear layer will hugely help to protect your floor against long term damage caused by every day wear. VIN1055 is sold with planks at a fixed length of 1219mm, a width of 152mm and is sold in pack sizes of 3.34m2. If you're unsure of how many packs you will need to cover your floor, our specialist team would be more than happy to take your call and best advise you in terms of your unique floor.
VIN1055 has square edges, meaning that the planks are straight cut as opposed to being curved or shaped on the sides of the plank. Compared to a bevelled edge for example, square edged planks fit together tightly when laid next to each other. This creates a smooth finish with no gaps in which brings a great sense of fluidity to your floor as well as a modern aesthetic. Similarly, the smooth floor will feel noticeably more comfortable underfoot aided by the help of the vinyl, which is much softer to touch than a solid wood floor.
As a Polyflor product, VIN1055 is not only incredibly durable, it is also waterproof. Because of this, you can safely lay this floor in more rooms than other material types, such as kitchens or bathrooms for example. This waterproof property removes the concern of damaging your floor through liquid or moisture exposure, giving you the chance to roll out that wood look across the whole of your property. The way to install this floor is by a glueing method. By glueing the planks down your vinyl floor will be safely and securely installed. If you enjoy a DIY project, you would likely be able to install this floor yourself, otherwise we'd always recommend an expert. If you’re looking to install luxury vinyl tiles by hand, there are a few things to bear in mind:
Glue Down vs Click
Before you purchase your LVT, check which installation system it uses. There are two main types: ‘Glue Down’ and ‘Click’.
• Glue Down is more traditional, ensuring dimensional stability and strength. Each tile is placed in a desired pattern, and set alongside the neighbouring tiles.
• Click installation is quick and hassle free. Each tile fits together seamlessly and securely, locking into place with a single movement.
Many fitters prefer floating their tiles due to quick and easy installation. Floating does not require you to fix your flooring to a subfloor, however, only click tiles can be fitted this way.
A thin underlay is fitted underneath the tile to encourage cushioning underfoot. Floating helps cut down on labour, whilst ensuring that your boards are comfortable and strong underfoot.
Fixing your flooring to the subfloor will ensure a long lifespan and minimal movement. Both Glue Down and Click tiles can be fitted this way, however, it is more popular with the former.
LVT can be installed above most existing hard surfaces, such as concrete, plywood, tiles, and wood boards. Adhesive is applied directly under the tile, setting rigidly into place.
