Polyflor Expona Commercial Wood Vintage Timber Flooring – product code VIN1064 – comes with planks in fixed lengths of 1219mm, a width of 152mm is sold in pack sizes of 3.34m2. If you're at all unsure of exactly how many packs you will need to cover your unique floor, our team would be more than happy to take your call and best advise you. Additionally, this product has a total thickness of 2.5mm with a 0.55mm wear layer. The wear layer is particularly important as it will help to protect the product from general everyday wear over the years to keep the floor looking as good as the day you installed it.
The brown timber effect of this product looks beautiful and has the added benefit of being a Polyflor product, making it very durable and long-lasting. But perhaps the best feature of Polyflor product, is that this floor is totally waterproof. Because of this, you can now take that beautiful wood effect in to more rooms than any other material type. This includes kitchens and even bathrooms where the worry of water or liquid damage is therefore eliminated. By being waterproof, cleaning is also considerably easier as all that it takes to maintain a vinyl floor is a routine hoover and a damp mop to retain its stunning look.
The VIN1064 has square edges, giving it a clean cut and modern look. Instead of having a curved or shaped edge like some products, this floor has a straight cut edge causing the planks to fit together tightly on all sides when laid next to each other. This in turn gives your floor a beautifully smooth and comfortable texture as there are no gaps between boards. This modern look can add great fluidity to a room and help in creating a contemporary aesthetic.
If you’re looking to install luxury vinyl tiles by hand, there are a few things to bear in mind:
Glue Down vs Click
Before you purchase your LVT, check which installation system it uses. There are two main types: ‘Glue Down’ and ‘Click’.
• Glue Down is more traditional, ensuring dimensional stability and strength. Each tile is placed in a desired pattern, and set alongside the neighbouring tiles.
• Click installation is quick and hassle free. Each tile fits together seamlessly and securely, locking into place with a single movement.
Many fitters prefer floating their tiles due to quick and easy installation. Floating does not require you to fix your flooring to a subfloor, however, only click tiles can be fitted this way.
A thin underlay is fitted underneath the tile to encourage cushioning underfoot. Floating helps cut down on labour, whilst ensuring that your boards are comfortable and strong underfoot.
Fixing your flooring to the subfloor will ensure a long lifespan and minimal movement. Both Glue Down and Click tiles can be fitted this way, however, it is more popular with the former.
LVT can be installed above most existing hard surfaces, such as concrete, plywood, tiles, and wood boards. Adhesive is applied directly under the tile, setting rigidly into place.
