This Polyflor Expona Control Wood Weathered Country Plank Vinyl Flooring – product code VIN1034 – is from the Expona Control range and is 2.5mm thick with a 0.70mm wear layer. The wear layer is particularly useful for protecting against damages and scratches that can occur from general wear and tear, meaning your floor will continue to look incredible for years to come.
This product comes with square edges to create a modern aesthetic. A square edge means that the planks aren't curbed or shaped on the edges so that when the product is installed the planks fit tightly together to form a fluid and smooth finish. The planks are installed using a glueing method which is quick and simple and any DIY fan should be able to do this themselves. The darker almost grey wood effect of this product creates a rustic and natural look that would be amazing in any home. A dark floor often shows dirt less meaning that your floor won't show up any of those blemishes or stains that will inevitably occur over the years. As a Polyflor product this floor will prove its durability and longevity as vinyl is well known for its long-lasting and strong abilities. Probably most notable however is that it is waterproof. This is ideal for kitchens or bathrooms where exposure to water or moisture is common and could cause damage to other floor types.
If you’re looking to install luxury vinyl tiles by hand, there are a few things to bear in mind:
Glue Down vs Click
Before you purchase your LVT, check which installation system it uses. There are two main types: ‘Glue Down’ and ‘Click’.
• Glue Down is more traditional, ensuring dimensional stability and strength. Each tile is placed in a desired pattern, and set alongside the neighbouring tiles.
• Click installation is quick and hassle free. Each tile fits together seamlessly and securely, locking into place with a single movement.
Many fitters prefer floating their tiles due to quick and easy installation. Floating does not require you to fix your flooring to a subfloor, however, only click tiles can be fitted this way.
A thin underlay is fitted underneath the tile to encourage cushioning underfoot. Floating helps cut down on labour, whilst ensuring that your boards are comfortable and strong underfoot.
Fixing your flooring to the subfloor will ensure a long lifespan and minimal movement. Both Glue Down and Click tiles can be fitted this way, however, it is more popular with the former.
LVT can be installed above most existing hard surfaces, such as concrete, plywood, tiles, and wood boards. Adhesive is applied directly under the tile, setting rigidly into place.
