Narrow boards of wood flooring are excellent at making any narrow room look much larger. There are many species of wood used in narrow solid wood flooring including Oak, walnut and acacia wood flooring. Narrow boards do take much longer to fit than the wider alternatives simply because of the covering area of each plank. Wood flooring between 75mm and 100mm is normally produced in random lengths simply because it would not be stable in longer boards.
A good quality underlay is imperative with narrow solid flooring simply because there is many joints that need all the support they can get. A decent quality underlay will also eliminate any slight defects with the subfloor. Most solidwood flooring uses a tongue and groove joining system meaning it can be fitted as either a floating floor, secret nailed or fully glued down. The most common widths of solid oak flooring are; 73mm acacia wood flooring, 75mm walnut flooring, 90mm solid wood flooring, 93mm acacia wood flooring.
