Our Studley Corn Oiled Engineered European Oak Wood Flooring has a total thickness of 14mm, providing exceptional resistance to daily wear. The thickness of each board is divided between an 11mm base and a 3mm solid wood veneer. Constructed from a bespoke multi-ply design, the base layer of the flooring is built with structural stability in mind. Each cut of plywood runs perpendicular to one another, and is highly compressed to make movement within the board impossible. This allows engineered flooring to be fitted in areas of high humidity and moisture, including kitchens, conservatories, and over underfloor heating.
Above the core, a solid wood veneer is applied for additional durability and stunning visual qualities. The wear layer of this product has been milled from a single piece of European oak timber, expertly selected for its intricate grains and stunning textures. Each plank measures 190mm in width, proving to be a wider choice than many alternatives. Whilst this does not affect the integrity or quality of the wood, it delivers an aesthetic that’s more suited to smaller rooms, creating the impression of more space.
For this type of flooring, we have selected an ABC grade of solid oak. This makes for a perfect blend of high quality close grains and small imperfections, such as knots and blemishes. Alongside this, a finish of invisible oil has been applied in order to accentuate the bespoke characteristics of the veneer. Whilst many oils stain the colour of the wood, invisible oils have been specially designed to preserve the wood’s natural aesthetic, whilst still strengthening the grain through absorption. During the manufacturing process, a micro-bevel is cut into the surface. This creates a small groove between each board, giving extra definition to the edges of your flooring, and added texture underfoot.
Each plank comes in a single-strip effect at a fixed length of 1900mm. This makes for a more uniformed appearance in comparison to its random length counterpart. With staggered boards at equal intervals, you can achieve the prototypical look of traditional hardwood flooring. This product also features an integrated ‘tongue and groove’ installation system, making fitting hassle-free. Opposed to classical methods of installation, engineered boards can be floated, instead of fixed directly to a subfloor. As each board is designed to fit securely into one another, the need for additional nails and adhesives is almost completely removed, saving time and labour costs.
The Studley Corn Oak promises a prolonged longevity, and can retain its quality for a lifetime. With our impressive 25-year guarantee, you can rest assured that your flooring is built to last. If any damage does begin to surface, the 3mm solid wood wear layer can be sanded and re-finished up to 3 times, allowing you to restore the look and feel of your boards to their former glory.
