Studley Meadow Oak 125 x 14/3mm has a plank width of 120mm and is a random length product (between 300-1200mm). A 125mm plank width is deemed a fairly narrow plank and works better in smaller spaces such as bedrooms or hallways. Random length or RL products allow you or whoever is fitting your floor to stagger individual planks – creating a free-flowing look. Also, the 3mm wear layer enables you to sand and refinish the surface up to 3 times in total, however this shouldn’t be necessary for the first 10-15 years. Engineered or multi-ply backed products are incredibly resilient to temperature changes that make them suitable for the vast majority of rooms within your home – even the conservatory! Due to their stability, all of our engineered wood products are compatible with both water and electrical based under floor heating systems.
Our Meadow Oak uses the tongue and groove (T&G) joining mechanism. Each floorboard is manufactured with a ‘tongue’ and a ‘groove’ that are simply slotted together, creating a strong bond between individual floorboards. Please note, a T&G product requires you or whoever is fitting the floor to first apply a small amount of PVA wood joint to both the tongue and the groove before individual planks are slotted together. This method of joining solid oak planks gives you two different installation options. Option one would be to secret nail the tongue part of the plank into a wooden subfloor. Option two would be to stick the timber directly onto the subfloor with use of flooring adhesive. Please see the full, downloadable installation guide in the installation tab above for more information.
The grade of our Meadow Oak is ABC grade - other suppliers may refer to this grade of timber as rustic. This simply means there will be knots and natural imperfections within the batch. This ultimately gives the product that natural, flowing feel and look – something, which is only achievable with a natural product.
