Plank Style Herringbone/Parquet

Thorpe Prime Oak Herringbone 70 x 250 x 22mm Unfinished has a total thickness of 22mm with a width of 70mm. This product comes in fixed lengths of 250mm and comes in parquet style blocks that are unfinished allowing the end user to finish it to how they desire. Over recent years self finishing has become more popular as there are now many different oils and lacquers on market, which offer more precision meaning you can create your dream look with ease.

Each plank has a square edge giving each plank more individual definition. The grade of this product is prime, meaning the planks have less natural imperfections for a flawless aesthetic. This floor should not be 'floated' as the planks could be lifted, which is why it is best to glue your solid wood floor. The glueing method works by the planks being stuck directly onto the subfloor with use of flooring adhesive. Please see the full, downloadable installation guide in the installation tab above for more information or call us to find out more.

Solid wood floors last a lifetime thanks to their incredible durability. Not only does it look stunning, but solid wood floor also attracts less allergens, dust and mould making it a hygienic flooring choice too. Additionally, solid wood floors are perfect for high traffic areas and will be able to retain its stunning aesthetic. Because of it's natural state however, it is not recommended that you use a solid wood floor with underfloor heating as it is unable to expand and contract with such fluctuations in temperatures. As well as this, the parquet flooring is a huge trend this year and is currently the favourite among interior designers. This means that installing as parquet style floor in your home would help to instantly modernise and bring some life to your floor.

Our Solid Wood flooring can be installed in two different ways, so it depends on your subfloor and what sort of method you prefer.

  1. 1. Gluing
  2. With this method, adhesive is applied to the top of the subfloor with a trowel and then the individual planks are laid on top. This is our favoured method for tongue and groove parquet flooring.

    2. Nailing

With this method, secret nails go through the tongue to secure the planks to a wooden subfloor. Professional fitters tend to prefer this method as the result is extremely secure. You'll need to fit a wood layer above any concrete because secret nailing cannot be done directly on top of a concrete subfloor.
