Weeton Dusk Oak 130 x 20mm (product code SO2029) demonstrates impeccable resistance to daily wear and tear with a thickness of 20mm. Each plank comes in random lengths, ranging from 400mm-2000mm. This creates a free-flowing aesthetic, promising truly unique features with every single board. With a plank width of 130mm, this product is considered reasonably narrow, and can provide a range of varying effects to a number of room types. Whilst this choice of flooring is ideal for hallways and passages, it is particularly suited to more open spaces, bringing proportion and preventing sparseness.

This product utilises a single strip plank effect, displaying the archetypal properties of classic hardwood flooring. For enhanced definition, each board has been given a 4v bevelled edge. Opposed to delivering a flawlessly smooth surface, the joins between each plank slope together, creating an indented ‘V’. This allows for each board to have individual personality, and provides intriguing textures underfoot. Alongside this, installation is quick and easy. The solid wood boards have been specially constructed to include a ‘tongue and groove’ system. Similarly to a jigsaw, the boards are designed to fit into one another safely and securely, without being fixed to a subfloor. This removes the necessity of additional nails and adhesives, reducing the costs of labour and the overall time of installation.

The species of oak used in the creation of this product has been expertly chosen for its rustic grade. The intricate grains, knots, and colour variations make for an iconic statement, and are enhanced even further by the hand scraped effect. Each board is sculpted to achieve a warn, welcoming aesthetic, giving the impression of a classic country cottage. A golden stain has also been applied, along with a protective lacquer. This not only produces an attractive appearance, but also seals the flooring, making for natural spill and scuff resistance.

SO2029 can be sanded and re-finished between 8-9 times, allowing for your solid wood flooring to last an entire lifetime. To assure the longevity of our product, we offer an incredible 25-year guarantee with every purchase.

Installation

If you’re looking to install solid or engineered wood flooring by hand, here are a few things to bear in mind:

Tongue and Groove vs Click

Before you purchase your solid wood flooring, check which installation system it uses. There are two main types: ‘Tongue and Groove’ and ‘Click’.

• Tongue and Groove is more traditional, ensuring dimensional stability and strength. Along one edge, a ‘tongue’ protrudes from the centre of the board, whilst on the other, an indented groove is cut into the wood. This allows each board to fit together securely.

• Click installation is quick and hassle free. Like tongue and groove, click boards fit together, however, the click method allows the boards to lock into place, snapping together with a single movement.

Floating

Many fitters prefer floating their boards due to quick and easy installation. Floating does not require you to fix your flooring to a subfloor. Both click and tongue and groove planks can be fitted this way.

Adhesive is applied to the groove for added stability, and underlay is fitted underneath the board. This cuts down on labour, whilst ensuring that your boards are comfortable and strong underfoot.

Fixing

Fixing your flooring to the subfloor will encourage a long lifespan and minimal movement. Both Tongue and Groove and Click boards can be fitted this way, however, it is more popular with the former.

Depending on the material of your subfloor, boards can be fixed in a variety of ways. For solid surfaces such as concrete, adhesive is applied directly under the board. For wooden subfloors, the boards can be ‘secret nailed’ along the tongue. Both methods are equally beneficial, giving you outstanding results.
