Dark Engineered Wood Flooring
Dark engineered floors are a fashionable choice which is growing ever popular in recent years. Traditional oak with a dark stain applied, crafts beautiful wooden floors that will add a chic, contemporary feel to any room (especially larger and open plan rooms). Pair with a lighter wall and consider your lighting options. A darker wood floor is perfect for a new Nordic style. As an engineered wood, these floors are also a practical option with the multi layer construction.
Darker stains camouflage stains better and shadows of the gaps between wood. This isn’t much of an issue as engineered wood does not often contract or shrink the way solid wood may. Sometimes darker oak floors tend to show dust and dirt more because of the stark contract. However, if you choose a satin finish, this will be less obvious.
Dark wood can also show scratches easier as when the floors are scratches it goes through the stain and shows the lighter natural wood underneath. Use good maintenance and this won’t be a larger issue. Regular daily cleaning to remove dust and dirt will help prevent scratches as will a proper entrance system. After 10-15 years you may find you’ll have to sand and refinish your floor, but this only needs to be done once the floor looks tarnished and you wish to restore it to its original glory. Simply sand a refinish with preferred lacquer or oil and you won’t be able to tell there was ever any damage. That’s the beauty of engineered wood which LVT and Laminate doesn’t provide.
Whilst we try our hardest to make our product pictures as accurate as possible, sometimes with the shade of wood seeing it in person is the only way to get a true test of the colour. Therefore, we advise ordering samples with our free unlimited sample offer.
