Single Plank Solid Wood Flooring
Single plank flooring is the most popular wood flooring style available. In single strip wood flooring, the boards are all the same length, which has the benefit of making rooms look more spacious than multi strip and parquet floors.
Our single strip flooring is available in oak and acacia and boasts a range of stain and finish options, so no matter whether you favour honey tones or rich shades of chocolate, you’re sure to find a floor you love.
Each of the boards in our oak and acacia single strip wood flooring are fitted with tongue & groove edges, the classic model for fitting floorboards together. One side of every board has a protruding tongue while the other side has an indented groove, allowing the boards to fit together easily with little to no need for nails or glue.
The tongue & groove design differs from the so-called ‘plank’ design in which the floorboards’ edges are flat, a style that’s typically used in parquet flooring to give fitters more freedom to create atypical patterns. However, as single strip flooring generally comes with a single option for patterns, there’s no need to use the plank method.
No matter whether you choose oak or acacia single strip flooring, you’ll need to consider the style of the floorboard edges. As with other flooring options, single strip boards come with the choice of either bevelled or square edges.
Bevelled edges result in a small, decorative groove between each board once the floor has been laid, while square edges keep the floor flat, with each board touching the one next to it. Neither design offers any practical benefits, so this decision will simply come down to which aesthetic you prefer.
The width of the boards in our oak and acacia single strip flooring can range from 70mm to 180mm, whereas multi strip boards tend to be on the wider end of the spectrum.
In addition to all the benefits that oak and acacia strip flooring offers, the design is also praised for its simple, elegant look and its elongating effect that creates the illusion of a bigger space.
