Multi Ply Engineered Wood Flooring

Multi Ply is an engineered flooring construction that uses 4-12 fused plywood layers to support the top wood veneer layer. Most of these floors are created though a process of cross layering, glueing and tight pressing, which in turn makes them the strongest engineered flooring option available. It is even stronger than solid wood too, especially in thicker options with thick wear layers, meaning if a durable floor is what you are after, you have come to the right place.

Although these floors are more expensive, they are always worth the price. They are less likely to be damaged by moisture, humidity or changes in temperature than solid wood, 3-ply engineered floors, or HDF constructions. These are properties people already look for in engineered flooring, making multi-ply the ultimate construction.

There are plenty of options in terms of shade, grain variation and grading for example, but multi-ply floors also have the advantage of a larger species range. This is because the thickness of the construction can support softer woods such as walnut and larch without risking damage or a short lifespan. If a unique species is what you are looking for, multi-ply can provide this alongside the practical benefits of harder wood options.

If you wish to use underfloor heating, instead try a 3ply option. This is still engineered wood, so will not be damaged by underfloor heating up to 27 degrees, but will allow more heat to pass through and at a faster rate, making the heating more noticeable. feel free to order samples of both options before making a decision.
